Mosaic Courses

Mosaic gift vouchers available - the ideal  present for the crafty type. Please visit my shop or contact me for details.

I am a professional mosaic artist. I have been making mosaics for more than 25 years and running regular mosaic classes in my dedicated, working mosaic studio for 10 years. I also run workshops around Yorkshire and further afield. All tools, materials, grouting  and refreshments are included (there are no hidden extras!).

Mosaic Courses

Come for a full or half day on any date listed -  weekend and weekday course dates available

2024 - 20 October (full), 17 November (full), 8 December (places available).

2025 – Saturday 25 January, Saturday 15 February, Saturday 22 March, Sunday 13 April, Saturday 17 May, Saturday 21 June, Saturday 19 July, Saturday 9 August, Saturday 20 September, Saturday 18 October, Saturday 15 November, Saturday 6 December.

I also run regular weekday courses most Fridays and Wednesdays.  Please contact me to enquire.

All my mosaic classes are suitable for adults and older children (12+),  complete beginners and those with some experience. You don’t have to be good at drawing to make mosaics. All you need to bring to a workshop is enthusiasm!

I keep class sizes small, to a maximum of 7, so that everyone gets plenty of attention.  Because the courses take place in a professional mosaic studio, there is a huge range of tiles and materials and possible projects available.

My courses take place in my riverside studio in Otley, West Yorkshire, 10 miles north of Leeds. I can also do bespoke courses and can travel  at a time and place to suit you â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Half day courses run from 10 am – 1 pm. In this time you can make a small indoor mosaic, trivet or wall mounted mosaic, about

6" / 15cm sq. The course costs £55.

Whole day courses run from 10 am – 4.30 pm. Here you can create a larger indoor mosaic, an outdoor wall mosaic or a concrete mosaic stepping stone for your garden. The cost is £90.

(A garden stepping stone this costs an extra £15 per mosaic)

All materials, tools and refreshments are provided, and included in the price.

MORE ABOUT THE COURSES

On the course you’ll learn how to cut tiles and about basic mosaic design. You should either finish your mosaic or go home with enough pieces to finish it off.

Everyone works at their own pace on their own project so you can make something from scratch, or bring along design ideas or even something you are already working on. Remember you don’t have to come with an idea, the studio is equipped with plenty of mosaic books for inspiration and pre-drawn templates for design ideas.

You are welcome to contact me to discuss ideas for what you could make on a course, particularly if you have a special project in mind. There are a maximum of 6 places per course, so that everyone gets plenty of space and attention.

Mosaics can’t always be grouted on the day they are made, but I’ll show you how to do it, or you can leave your mosaic at the studio to be grouted, and collect it at a later date, at no extra charge. Outdoor mosaics may need a second visit (included in the price) to finish  off or to collect your finished mosaic

I am  always happy to talk projects and ideas through on the phone .

I also provide bespoke Mosaic Courses for groups and parties. Please get in contact to discuss a mosaic party or a specially arranged course for your friends or group. The course can take place at my studio or I can travel to you. Group sizes are limited to 7 at the studio, but can be up to 15 in other venues.

The studio: the mosaic studio is a workshop. It is heated, but it is a messy working space, so please don’t come in your best clothes!

If you are staying all day we’ll have a break for lunch at a suitable time. You can either bring packed lunch or there are plenty of places to get food within a 5 minute walk, including cafés and a supermarket. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided throughout the day, and are included in the price.

Please note, there are steps down to the studio and a step up to get in to it, so it is not suitable for wheelchair access. If you have mobility issues and would like to book a course, please get in contact  to discuss

You can visit my studio by arrangement. Please contact me to arrange a time.
